Me at Red Rock Coolie

Alberta Adventure Chapter 16 –Too many Tires

Blowout

We stayed at Turtle Crossing for two sleeps. Every day we got to run around in the field a bit. Then the music played in the morning so I knew we were going to the next place.
We drove into Winnipeg, the city that Laura said she lived in. She said we were only a few miles from where she lived. I guess that if we stopped we'd be able to walk there.

After the big city we drove and drove. I was tired, so went to sleep but a big bang woke me up. Carm stopped us really quickly. Laura and Carm both got out and when they came back they seemed even more worried than the last time. Carm called some people on the mirror of the truck and we sat there. It was really hot and Bella was starting to pant, she gets hot quicker than Kabira and I. Laura seem worried and got out a special umbrella and the picnic blanket that she put out on the ditch of the highway. That seemed like a really weird place to have a picnic. We all sat under the umbrella trying to not get too hot.

A strange man came so Carm went and talked to him. That strange man left and then another one came. Carm talked to him too. That strange man left. A big truck came and parked behind the camper. Another strange man got out and talked to Carm. Then he went back to his truck and came back with some things in his hands. They took off one of the camper wheels and put the one that Carm had gotten in Brandon on instead. When he was finished we all got back into the truck.
Carm started driving but he went back to where we had come from. I was confused and concerned. I wondered what was going on. We came to a place and it was the weirdest campsite that we had ever had. I really hoped that we wouldn't be there for long. All I could smell and see were tires, and was really hot. Carm put chairs outside on a hard surface that wasn't comfortable to lay on, but it was too hot to be in the camper. The smell of the tires made me feel a bit sick. Strangely, Laura and Carm said we were lucky to be there, but I didn't think we were lucky at all.
When it got cooler, Laura and Carm took us for a walk. It wasn't very fun and I was a bit scared because cars drove so close to us. Luckily we only stayed there for one night. The next morning when the music played I was pretty happy. A bunch of strange men came to our camper and started doing stuff to it. Carm said we were getting new tires.
I was relieved when we started driving. Laura said we were going somewhere really wonderful called Rushing River which was in Ontario.
